A Gathering of Minds is an innovative therapeutic program for adults in the early stages of memory loss due to Alzheimer’s and other disorders. This online, interactive program provides intellectual stimulation and social connection for its members as well as respite for caregivers through the evidence-based practices of Recreational Therapy.
The programming changes daily and supports the intellectual needs of highly educated people who have lived full and interesting lives. Discussions, abstract thinking, reminiscence, and self-expression are actively encouraged and facilitated by the group leader. Additional cognitive and physical activities to support intellectual, physical, and psychological health and functioning are a part of each day’s programming.
A Gathering of Minds is a safe place where people are seen and acknowledged for who they are, not for the disability they have. Members develop a strong sense of trust in one another and belonging in the group. By providing a space to develop and nurture new friendships,
A Gathering of Minds helps to alleviate the isolation that is so common after a diagnosis of dementia or memory loss.
A Gathering of Minds meets daily Tuesdays through Fridays (full schedule is below). Enrollment is limited to eight participants per session to ensure individual attention and the active participation of each member. Each 90-minute session consists of new and original programming from a wide variety of topics including:
